With the first read through closing on Sunday, there was certainly a wealth of excitement in the air. Whilst I can’t reveal too much about everything we discussed (or some of the things that happened…) I can tell you that things seemed to go better than were expected.
For me, this is a remarkable experience to say the least. I have never done anything like this before, and to be asked to be involved is a wonderful feeling, even though I am actually quite scared of the whole process.
You might have read that I am now hosting the site, but what you probably didn’t see was that I’m also assisting with the recording, advising on pre and post production and I’ve been cast as at least one voice (although that last one still isn’t fully decided). All this is hugely daunting, and exciting at the same time.
But perhaps the single most important thing for me here, was getting to meet the real talent behind the show. The writers. I’ve read a few scripts in the past but only a few I’ve been involved in, and this of course being the very first ‘voice acting’ I’ve even sniffed at. I absolutely loved the scripts, and I have to praise the writers in every sense for some really incredible work. The other great thing of course on the day, is the read through allowed us all to meet, bond, gel and amuse each other, and it’s great to see that we all got on well.
Of course for me, now comes the hardest part. Learning to actually talk, and act, without sounding like I’m acting, as well as learn as much about ‘sound recording’ as some professionals know, in about the space of three weeks….
So, if your a drinking man, perhaps you’ll raise a glass to everyone on this project, and of course Mark Chatterley for bringing this whole thing together.
