The recording ? the first day

So the run up was complete and we all descended upon ITV Studios for the first day of recording.

It started well, everyone made it. It was nice to see everyone in one place, up until now most people only knew each other as ‘other parts’ or email addresses. All introduced I sat the actors and writers down with some junk food (got to keep the talent happy) and set about setting up the mics and the recording system.

First problem, we can’t quite figure out how everything is currently set up. We needed to pull out cables and attach them to our systems. A quick talk through with Sanj and we were on our way.

I rounded up the actors and wafted them in to the recording room for a sound test.

Problem two, one of the mics doesn’t work. Damn. A quick run about and we have another mic – it doesn’t really mesh with our current ones but we have to make do. The show must… and all that.

And then we were of, recording the first episode. Well, not the first. The third actually.

One of my lovely talented actors had to move house over the weekend and could only make the first day. A quick look at the scripts to see which they were in and a slight change in the order sorted that out.

Lunch soon appeared and a scouting party was sent out for food while we listened to an episode back. It sounds good. Very good.

After lunch we got on with the final 2 scripts of the day. Day 1 done and four scripts in the bag. Woo! To celebrate we all head out into Cardiff for a meal and a few drinks. Not too many, mind, we still had a whole extra day in front of us.

Flattr this!
