Muzak: Part 1

What a great email to wake up to. Pete from Jamyama has sent though his first piece of muzak and the first incarnation of the tanoy bings and bongs.

Muzak

This piece of muzak, which I am naming Happy Mornings (I hope you don’t mind, Pete), is lovely and beepy. Just the kind of thing that I can imagine having in the background of some godforsaken supermarket – so bang on the money for Supermarket Matters.

My only slight concern with this, and all other muzak – which only occurred to me when I heard this for the first time – is that it may be unlikely that we will play the whole piece from beginning to end. It would appear odd to have the muzak starting from the beginning each time we enter the shop floor.

However, I am sure there will be times when the muzak will be played from the beginning to end. Maybe a scene goes on longer than one of the songs. Maybe someone turns on the music player at the beginning of the day. Plus, as Pete has told me, this allows for more flexibility in editing. So I am not too worried about this.

Tannoy bings and bongs

One thing all supermarkets need is the tanoy bings and bongs. Pete has produced some of these to get us started.

If you want to get more in depth information about how Pete came up with these tracks or the equipment used for this, please check out the Jamyama blog.

So, what do you think? Let me know, either by leaving a comment or emailing supermarketmatters@gmail.com

Flattr this!
